About Taki, Hasnabad

Taki is a small town on the banks of River Ichamati in North 24 Pgns. Just 70 kms from Kolkata, it is a retreat of peace and lush greenery. There are numerous hotels and resorts in Taki and we have handpicked some here ranging from budget guesthouses to deluxe resorts. Please do check the details of these accommodations in Taki and feel free to contact us for their bookings.

While in Taki, you can engage in various activities like sightseeing to Golpata Jungle or Mini Sunderban as it is called locally. Here you would find a whole lot of birds and a small patch of mangrove forest. A canopy walk has been built here for the guests to traverse through the mangroves and get the true feeling of wilderness. The settlement of Taki is nearly 300 years old and you can still find some reminiscences of its glorious past in the ruins of Taki Zamindar Bari, Ghosh Bari, and Jora Shib Mandir. If you are a history buff, then you would surely like to visit these destinations.

Apparently, new Taki is built on the banks of River Ichamati. The park and watch tower overlooking the massive expanse of the Ichamati is the most happening place of Taki in the evenings. Here, you can stroll around to check out the local eateries on the banks of the river and taste Ghugni, Malpoa, Puchka and hot simmering tea. If you are not a foodie, then search for a quiet corner garden bench and witness the beauty of the setting sun and the fishing boats returning with their catch.

Few other activities would surely include a visit to Machranga Dwip, which is an island in Icchamati River. A twenty-minute boat ride from the Ferry Ghat at Taki would take you to this deserted island where you can spend the day away from the din of city life. If you are with your extended family or office colleagues, then you can also arrange for a day-picnic at Machranga Island. Another much awaited activity at Taki is during Bijoya Dashami (Final Day of Durga Puja) at Bhashan. The immersion of Goddess Durga in Ichamati River from Country boats is surely a sight to behold in the evenings.

You can visit Taki anytime of the year. The monsoons bring in lush greenery and rolling dark clouds over the horizon of Ichamati River while the sparkling weather and Khejur Rash of the winters are simply few things you cannot miss in Taki.

If you want to reach by local train, then you can avail Hasnabad Local from Sealdah North. It takes around 02 hours to reach Taki Road Station from Sealdah. From Taki Road station you can take local Totos or Van Rickshaws to reach the riverside hotels and resorts. If you are planning to take the road, then you can avail SH3 (Basanti Highway) from Science City Kolkata and take a diversion from Malancha over the newly built Chaital Bridge. It is around 70 kms in this route. However, the old road to Taki (SH2) passes through Barasat, Duttapukur and Basirhat.
